3D Leadership Model

‘3D Leadership’ is a unique transformational framework that holistically connects and develops 3 Dimensions – the intellect (mind), the heart (emotions) and the spirit. It supports building strong and resilient individuals, teams and communities calibrated with mindsets, attitudes and actions of: vision and purpose, success, respect, self worth, integrity, humility, innovation, courage, fun and wisdom. The philosophy, methods and tools combine to create a unique professional development program that empowers, engages and unites leaders and followers to create meaningful legacies, powerful outcomes, and passionate lifelong learners and change agents.

Dimension One:

Intelligence – The Mind Definition of intelligence – The ability a human being has to solve life’s problems. Life can and should be challenging. Dealing effectively with setbacks, dilemmas and choices is an important life skill. Through the 3D Leadership program, individuals will learn to master this seemingly contradictory process. This ability, which the best leaders possess, is a critical attribute to surviving and prospering in uncertain and unfamiliar times. Confusion is a natural and necessary part of transformation. When attended to in a mindful way, it leads to clarity. Neuroplasticity refers to the ability of the brain and nervous system to change structurally and functionally as a result of input from the environment. For example, if you play the scales of piano in your mind's eye, you are not only activating those neurons that you would if you were actually playing the keyboard, but you are also strengthening their connections with each other. You are building circuits in the brain, changing the physical connections, and the brain's architecture simply by the focus of your attention. With scientific certainty we can say how you focus your mind can change the physical structure of your brain.

Dimension Two:

Intelligence – The Heart Emotional Intelligence (EQ) is a measure of someone’s ability to understand the emotions of themselves and others. It is a key predictor of job performance: It includes –

  • Self-awareness,
  • Self-management
  • Awareness of others and
  • Relating to others

In a very real sense we have two minds, one that thinks and one that feels. These two fundamentally different ways of knowing interact to construct our mental life (Goleman, 1996) The EQ dimension of our programmes brings greater resilience, optimism, hope and empathy for ourselves and others by using the latest techniques from positive Psychology and Apprecieative Inquiry.

Dimension Three

Intelligence – Wisdom Is the intelligence with which we address and solve problems of meaning and value, the intelligence with which we can place our actions and our lives in a wider, richer, meaning-giving context… to serve causes and processes much larger than ourselves (Zohar & Marshall, 2000, p. 3-4).
